Graffiti Artist

The street phenomenon of artistic expression through in Hip Hop Graffiti originated in the 1960’s with its roots in Philadelphia by the way of Darryl (Cornbread) McCray before exploding in 1970s New York City with pioneers like TAKI 183. It emerged as a form of urban expression, serving as a foundational, visual pillar of hip-hop culture alongside DJing, MCing, and breaking. Born from a need for expression among marginalized youth, it transformed urban landscapes into galleries, using spray paint to turn subways cars, walls, bridges, into vibrant artistic expressions.
